Graphic Design and UX/UI:

Digital Marketing and design experience with BootstrapVT

Beginning as an intern with BootstrapVT I spent one year gaining hands-on experience with clients and in-agency marketing and design work before being offered a full-time position as a lead Graphic Design and UX Resource for the entire collective. I continue to work alongside other professionals at BootstrapVT on projects that include branding, photography, print design, website design, digital marketing, and anything else that might pop up as a task in-house or with a client. Versatility and a wide range of skills has served me very well in this position.

    • Internal and client social media and content creation

    • Designing and strategizing email campaigns

    • Visual storytelling; audience engagement

    • User experience design and development.

    • Website audit, creation, and updates

My role blended my skills in interaction design and graphic design to bring a unique and fresh approach to the marketing team at Bootstrap. While contributing my knowledge and skills, I gained extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of how to apply my expertise to the world of digital marketing. I have learned directly from the professionals what it means to truly “bootstrap” by marketing myself, creating purposeful design, and continuing to expand my knowledge.

    • Brand Photography - On-site photoshoots and content creation opportunities for clients. Included but not limited to: environmental candids, headshots, product photography, B-roll video, etc.

    • Campaign Design - I created and designed assets for our clients digital campaigns and brand identities. Assets include presentations, social media templates and campaigns, promotional materials, flyers, brand voice, type styles and families, color palettes, etc.

    • Brand Elevation - Worked closely with clients and internal teams to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses across identities to strategize what services/enhancements can bring greater success to clients.

    • Marketing Strategy - Analyzing post performance and optimizing content strategy based on audience behavior was a foundational task throughout my internship. I utilized A/B testing as well as social media and website analytics to make informed decisions and design future campaigns to be more successful.

    • User Experience and Interface Design - Working with web designers and clients, I drafted wireframes and proposed website and design improvements to enhance user/customer experience to increase digital traffic and engagement.

    • Team Collaboration - I worked alongside professional copywriters, marketers, strategists, and collaborative partners to align creative content with the marketing goals for our clients.

    • Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects)- for social media, branding graphics, and content creation.

    • Figma - for wire framing and prototyping interactive content.

    • Canva - for designing easy-to-use and quick-turnaround templates and collaborative content.

    • Wordpress/Squarespace - for website content uploads, layout improvements, and blog publishing.

    • Mailchimp - for creating client email templates and email marketing.

    • Sprout Social - for scheduling and managing social content publishing.

    • Later - for social media scheduling and management.

    • Google Ads - for running paid ads and and measuring performance.

    • Meta Business Suite - for running social media campaigns.

  • Throughout this internship I have strengthened key skills and learned to:

    • Designing with strategy in mind - Design goes further when it is purpose-driven. I make it a key point to know who, what, where, and why my content is being consumed.

    • Think analytically - Design is backed by math and science. Testing and methodologies is essential to successful campaigns in marketing and design.

    • Collaboration & communication is key - Teammates are crucial when it comes to projects and learning new things.

    • Be ready to adapt - Software and tools are ever-changing and you never know when a new software or method might be introduced. Campaigns and clients can be unpredictable, stay ready to make necessary changes.

    • Never stop learning - Even when I’m not in the classroom, there’s always something new to learn and sometimes the best way to learn is to just DO IT!
